Position Overview

SAIC is in search of a Ground Systems Engineer with extensive expertise in space-related ground infrastructures, taking on the role of chief engineer. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of ground segment acquisitions for space systems, alongside the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) of these critical systems. This role involves providing essential support for significant program acquisitions, which include the procurement of satellite vehicles and their corresponding ground segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development branch with a focus on full life-cycle system support.
  • Engage in the design and development of ground command and control (C2) software and hardware, as well as Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE) and virtualized technologies.
  • Conduct requirements analysis, tracking, installation, and system sell-off.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in full life cycle support within an IC or DoD acquisition program office.
  • Background in the ground segment of a space program office.
  • Proficient in evaluating proposals, budgets, and master schedules.
  • Experience in hardware and software integration activities.
  • Familiarity with request for change (RFC) processes.
  • Knowledge of requirements validation and verification methodologies.
  • Expertise in ground architecture design.
  • Skilled in organizing meetings, project coordination, and technical report writing/reviewing.
  • Experience in risk management planning and mitigation strategies.
  • Possession of an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • A Bachelor's degree with 14 years or more of relevant experience; a Master's degree with 12 years or more; or a PhD with 9 years or more.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
