Position Overview

New Oakland Family Centers is a leading provider of comprehensive behavioral health and substance abuse services across Michigan, offering support in both outpatient and partial hospitalization environments.

Work Schedule: Full-time; Five shifts of 8.5 hours each week, as determined by the Crisis Services Director. Available shifts include morning, swing, and midnight in a 24/7 operational framework.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the President, Crisis Services Director, or Crisis Services Supervisor.

Compensation: Hourly position, with a pay range of $19-$23 per hour, based on experience.

Role Summary: The Intensive Crisis Stabilization Coordinator is responsible for providing essential coordination support for all ICS services. This role may also involve clerical tasks, record management, dispatch duties, and other miscellaneous responsibilities that contribute to consumer care. Close collaboration with clinical and administrative teams, as well as consumers, is crucial for ensuring effective service delivery.

Key Skills Required:
• Proficient in multitasking with strong time management and project management capabilities.
• Ability to maintain a comprehensive understanding of organizational objectives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective reasoning and problem-solving abilities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the admission process for inpatient services.
  • Manage admissions documentation through electronic fax systems.
  • Coordinate communication between emergency departments, inpatient facilities, educational institutions, families, therapists, and NOFC ICS services.
  • Exhibit a customer-service-oriented approach while performing duties professionally.
  • Collaborate with outpatient providers to arrange services and provide necessary resources.
  • Oversee data entry into the tri-county dispatch system.
  • Coordinate community dispatch screenings across the tri-county area.
  • Engage with county ACCESS departments to assist families in accessing CMH outpatient services.
  • Conduct NOMS intake and discharge processes for YFCC.
  • Follow up on ICS PHP referrals with relevant sites and families regarding approvals or denials.
  • Document activities in the EMR system/calendar as required.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings as necessary.
  • Assist with additional clerical tasks as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or site director.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree or pre-bachelor's degree in social work, professional counseling, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with a high school diploma and 1-2 years of mental health experience, along with 1-2 years of clerical or scheduling experience, may also be considered. The ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults, is essential.

Work Environment: Staff are expected to maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Employee Handbook and be prepared for active engagement with consumers.

Interpersonal Relations:
• External: High level of interaction with consumers and families, both in-person and via telephone.
• Internal: Significant contact with other clerical and professional staff within the clinic.
