Position Overview:
- Conducts comprehensive vascular laboratory assessments, including arterial, venous, cerebrovascular, and visceral testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Performs thorough patient evaluations, gathers relevant medical history, and reviews orders to ensure accurate testing procedures.
- Prepares and communicates preliminary reports of test outcomes to the referring healthcare provider.
- Maintains meticulous patient records, including worksheets, photographs, videotapes, and both paper and electronic reports.
- Assists the technical director in the development of quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Supports compliance with regulatory standards and participates in the ICAVL accreditation process.
- Facilitates the orientation of new staff members.
- Ensures proper maintenance and utilization of laboratory equipment.
- Educates patients and staff on vascular health and technology.
- Performs clinical workflow tasks in the electronic health record system, including charge entry.
- Manages inventory of supplies and assists the technical director with procurement.
- Execute vascular laboratory testing following departmental protocols.
- Evaluate patients and gather relevant vascular history; utilize resources such as electronic health records to obtain necessary clinical information.
- Conduct appropriate testing procedures as per orders to acquire clinically essential data.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive preliminary reports; operate independently without direct supervision from physicians.
- Effectively communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding test results and required follow-up testing.
- Assist with clerical, reception, and billing tasks as needed.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies in optimal condition.
- Demonstrate responsible stewardship in the use of resources.
- Adhere to the mission statement of UPHS.
- Conduct testing for research studies in accordance with established protocols.
- Treat patients, their families, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
- Maintain RVT credential.
- Ensure a patient care environment that guarantees privacy and confidentiality.
- Willingly assist fellow vascular specialists in testing and interpreting results.
- Perform duties in alignment with Penn Medicine's values, policies, and procedures.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system.
- ARDMS or RDMS or RVS or RVT certification (Required).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Required).
- Must maintain CPR certification.
- High School Diploma/GED (Required).
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasound technology program (Required).
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in vascular laboratory testing (Required).
- Proficient in performing vascular laboratory testing (Required).
