Position Summary:
- Conducts comprehensive vascular laboratory assessments, including arterial, venous, cerebrovascular, and visceral testing, adhering to established protocols.
- Evaluates patients, gathers relevant medical history, and reviews orders to ensure accurate testing.
- Prepares initial reports of test findings and communicates results to the referring healthcare provider.
- Maintains thorough and precise patient documentation, including worksheets, photographs, and both paper and electronic reports.
- Assists the technical director in developing quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Supports compliance with regulatory standards and the ICAVL accreditation process.
- Facilitates the onboarding process for new staff members.
- Ensures proper maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Educates patients and staff on vascular health and related technologies.
- Performs clinical workflow tasks in the electronic health record system, including charge entry.
- Manages inventory of supplies and assists in procurement as needed.
- Execute vascular laboratory tests following departmental guidelines.
- Assess patients and collect pertinent vascular histories, utilizing available resources for clinical information.
- Conduct necessary testing procedures as per orders to gather clinically relevant data.
- Prepare accurate preliminary reports and operate independently without direct supervision from physicians.
- Effectively communicate with physicians and healthcare providers regarding test results and required follow-up testing.
- Assist with clerical, reception, and billing tasks as necessary.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies in optimal condition.
- Demonstrate responsible use of equipment and materials.
- Adhere to the mission statement of UPHS in all activities.
- Conduct testing for research initiatives in accordance with established protocols.
- Uphold respect and dignity in interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain RVT certification.
- Ensure a patient care environment that prioritizes privacy and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with other vascular specialists in testing and interpreting results.
- Perform duties in alignment with the values, policies, and procedures of Penn Medicine and the entity.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system.
- ARDMS, RDMS, RVS, or RVT certification (Required).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Required).
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasound technology program (Required).
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in vascular laboratory testing (Required).
- Proficient in performing vascular laboratory tests (Required).
