Job Overview

Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. is a reputable contractor based in Connecticut, specializing in a wide array of services including infrastructure development, environmental remediation, and demolition. Our expertise encompasses site preparation, concrete construction, remediation of soil and groundwater, roadway and bridge construction, earth retention systems, underground utilities, and the removal and replacement of underground storage tanks.

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join our team for projects across the New England region. The Estimator will play a crucial role in accurately assessing and pricing project work, which includes both direct and indirect costs for heavy civil and roadway projects ranging from $5 million to $200 million.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and coordinate estimate discussions;
  • Evaluate scopes of work to allocate labor, equipment, production rates, schedules, materials, and subcontracting options to formulate comprehensive pricing for project activities from initiation to completion;
  • Prepare precise direct and indirect cost estimates utilizing HCSS Heavy Bid software;
  • Analyze quotes from subcontractors and vendors to determine the best value;
  • Develop pre-bid project schedules to assess labor and equipment requirements;
  • Contribute to a safety-focused work environment by promoting safe practices and ensuring adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline;
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in project estimating using HCSS Heavy Bid;
  • In-depth knowledge of site excavation and utility construction techniques and materials;
  • Strong problem-solving abilities;
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented;
  • Familiarity with Site Development and Heavy/Highway Construction practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer;
  • Capable of lifting up to 15 lbs;
  • Proficient in operating standard office equipment and keyboards;
  • Able to push, pull, and position materials on flat surfaces and overhead storage.
