The Senior Engineer - Product Maintainability Solutions will oversee all facets of product maintainability, supportability, and user-centered design for designated engine projects. This position involves active participation throughout the entire New Product Introduction (NPI) process to assess and enhance system maintainability and supportability. The objective is to provide an engine system that demonstrates exceptional levels of maintainability and supportability while minimizing customer life cycle expenses.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate detailed program strategies to achieve the maintainability goals of the assigned project.
- Gather customer insights and feedback.
- Conduct competitive analysis and evaluate similar products.
- Define a product maintenance framework and support approach.
- Examine design methodologies, lessons learned, and best practices relevant to your assigned project.
- Establish technical and program specifications for the product.
- Analyze the engine architecture and external configuration.
- Facilitate design trade studies and decision-making processes.
- Conduct regular design evaluations (CDR, PDR, DDR) of the product.
- Engage in and support technical discussions where maintainability considerations are essential.
- Provide direction and assistance to other engineering teams or departments.
- Assist in creating engine-specific hardware inventories, LRU lists, and tool requirements.
- Develop engine-specific digital toolkits, restricted zones, and removal pathways for integration into the digital pre-assembly.
- Evaluate the digital pre-assembly for maintainability issues.
- Review and endorse Interface Control Documents, Development Problem Reports, and Change in Design documents.
- Support the identification and creation of necessary support equipment.
- Assist in analyzing engine assembly, integration, testing, and certification processes.
- Conduct and/or assist with Product Support Analysis tasks.
- Participate in and/or support Integrated Product Support initiatives.
- Engage in Maintenance Steering Group-3 activities.
- Perform Maintainability and Human Factors assessments.
- Conduct Maintenance Task Analysis and develop a Maintainability and Human Factors Scorecard.
- Deliver customer contractual obligations.
- Execute Maintainability Demonstrations and Risk Mitigation activities.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
- Proven track record in problem analysis and resolution.
- Demonstrated experience in leading projects and programs.
- Ability to document, strategize, market, and implement programs effectively.
- Established skills in project management.
- Prior experience in design for maintainability, assembly, or overhaul processes.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering tools such as digital engine technologies.
