Registered Nurse

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is actively seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Same Day Surgery department. The RN will be responsible for planning and assessing services in the OPSU/PACU, demonstrating the expertise and competencies necessary for delivering care to pre and post-operative ambulatory patients. The care provided will be tailored to the specific age demographics of our patients, including pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatric groups.

Our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab allows us to offer a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient cardiac services, ensuring timely care when it matters most. The hospital operates 24/7 emergency services as an accredited chest pain center, alongside extensive outpatient, imaging, diagnostic, and specialty services. Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate services in the OPSU/PACU in alignment with established protocols.
2. Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care with consistent adherence to standards.
3. Implement effective cost management strategies on a daily basis.
4. Manage patient care in the OPSU and/or PACU with a focus on quality and safety.
5. Collaborate with team members to develop, implement, and revise nursing care plans for ambulatory surgical patients.
6. Provide psycho-social support to patients and their families, fostering a supportive environment.
7. Engage in discussions regarding operational matters with CRNAs and Anesthesiologists as necessary.
8. Maintain inventory of special supplies based on the needs of the OPSU/PACU.
9. Participate in Performance Improvement Projects within the OPSU and PACU.
10. Review incident reports with management and implement necessary changes.
11. Conduct rapid assessments to differentiate between immediate and long-term patient needs during the peri-anesthesia phase.
12. Document relevant patient information, nursing interventions, and responses accurately and promptly.
13. Educate patients, families, and team members, participating in preoperative assessments and educational initiatives.

Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited RN program is required.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Licensure:
A current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a multistate license from compact member states is required.
Experience:
Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing is preferred but not mandatory.
Critical Care experience in PACU is also preferred.
Skills:
BLS Certification is required.
ACLS Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
Ability to thrive in a physically demanding and high-stress environment.
Basic computer proficiency is necessary.
Strong communication skills are essential.
Successful completion of orientation and probationary periods is required.
