The Emergency Medicine RN plays a vital role in coordinating and directing patient care for a designated group of individuals within the Emergency Medicine Department. - Conducting thorough nursing assessments
- Administering medications and monitoring vital life support systems
- Performing both routine and complex medical treatments
- Providing emergency resuscitation as necessary
This role is essential for ensuring comprehensive care for patients across all age groups.
Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, a 45-bed facility, serves the rural and suburban communities of Roaring Spring, Altoona, and surrounding areas. Established in 1900, our center is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate healthcare. With a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab, we offer a variety of inpatient and outpatient cardiac services, ensuring timely care when it matters most. Our hospital is recognized as an accredited chest pain center, providing 24/7 emergency services along with extensive outpatient, imaging, diagnostic, and specialty care options. As a LifePoint Health National Quality Leader, we are dedicated to setting the standard for quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform triage duties as assigned, identifying urgent cases and facilitating patient flow.
- Deliver primary nursing care to all assigned patients, collaborating within a team throughout their stay.
- Recognize and address arrhythmias, implementing interventions according to established protocols.
- Initiate IV access, administer medications and fluids, and monitor patient responses.
- Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation and serve as the code nurse during critical situations.
- Manage the transfer of critically ill patients to other departments or facilities, ensuring continuity of care.
- Regularly check and maintain monitoring equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all Emergency Department equipment and adhere to safety protocols.
- Participate in special procedures and examinations, providing patient support as needed.
- Continuously evaluate nursing care in critical areas, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Document all observations and interventions meticulously, including medication and treatment records.
- Engage with patients and their families, keeping them informed of progress and involving them in care plans.
- Participate in shift change reports to ensure seamless communication.
- Maintain high standards of emergency nursing practice.
- Mentor and orient new team members within the department.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited RN program is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a multistate license is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within six months.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within one year.
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) is preferred.
Skills Required:
- Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment abilities.
- Capability to work effectively in high-stress environments.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including on-call shifts.
- Ability to provide care for patients across all age groups.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with healthcare teams.

Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, 401K, paid time off, and onsite occupational health services.
Sign-On Bonus: $30,000 available.
