This role involves comprehensive patient management for both adult and elderly patients, including assessment, education, documentation, medication administration, and collaboration with medical professionals.
The Cath Lab RN will take on the responsibilities of a circulator and will also monitor and document procedures. There is an opportunity for cross-training to become a scrub assistant. As a 45-bed facility, Conemaugh Nason Medical Center serves the surrounding rural and suburban communities, providing high-quality, compassionate care since 1900. Our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient cardiac services, ensuring timely access to care when it matters most. The hospital is recognized as an accredited chest pain center, providing 24/7 emergency services along with comprehensive outpatient, imaging, diagnostic, and specialty services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make informed decisions to prevent and resolve patient care issues.
- Monitor patient status and proactively address potential complications.
- Maintain proficiency in patient sedation and pain management.
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient and hospital information.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives as directed.
- Adapt care approaches to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
Unit-Specific Responsibilities - Cardiac Catheterization Lab:
- Implement aseptic techniques in all procedures.
- Conduct patient assessments, education, and interventions during Cath Lab procedures.
- Serve as a resource for team members, including technicians and administrative staff.
- Lead patient management and coordinate patient flow during procedures.
- Act as the circulator or monitor during cardiac procedures.
- Participate in policy development and quality control for the Cath Lab.
- Maintain and operate all necessary equipment according to established protocols.
- Ensure readiness of the Cath Lab for emergency cases.
- Adhere to infection control policies and maintain cleanliness of the lab.
- Safeguard patient data and navigate all relevant computer systems effectively.
- Be available for on-call responsibilities with a prompt response time.
- Assist in various lab procedures and demonstrate clinical competence in cardiac care.
Educational and Professional Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited RN program is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Completion of a critical care course is required.
- Current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a multistate license is mandatory.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience in acute cardiac care is required.
- Experience in a Cath Lab setting is preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
