Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and depositions.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and proper formatting of documents.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in trial preparation and discovery processes, including organizing case files and drafting necessary documents.
  • Manage all aspects of Landlord/Tenant and Civil Court cases, including motions and post-judgment applications.
  • Maintain communication with clients to gather information, provide updates, and address inquiries while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Support senior attorneys in managing caseloads, tracking deadlines, and maintaining organized document databases.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may affect practice areas.
  • Share insights on legal developments with senior attorneys that could impact client cases.
  • Engage with colleagues and legal professionals to develop strategies and enhance team success.
  • Assist with additional projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the NYS Bar.
  • 2-5 years of legal experience, with a minimum of two years in landlord-tenant litigation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and ability to handle various tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in legal billing and CRM software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Customer service-oriented with a proactive approach.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite applications (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms).
  • Competence in drafting legal pleadings and documents, including motions and settlements.
