The successful applicant will possess a robust foundation in real estate law, particularly in the realm of litigation within Housing Court, advocating for landlords and property management professionals.
Core Responsibilities:
- Litigation Management: Advocate for clients in Housing Court, including the drafting and submission of motions, pleadings, and other legal documents pertinent to landlord-tenant conflicts.
- Client Advocacy: Offer legal guidance and representation to landlords, property managers, and real estate proprietors in issues such as eviction processes, non-payment cases, holdover actions, and lease enforcement matters.
- Case Oversight: Oversee a portfolio of Housing Court cases from initiation to conclusion, encompassing settlement negotiations, trial preparations, and court appearances.
- Legal Analysis: Perform comprehensive legal research on landlord-tenant legislation, rent stabilization laws, and other applicable regulations to inform case strategies and client advisement.
- Client Interaction: Ensure consistent communication with clients to provide updates on case progress, legal insights, and potential outcomes, guaranteeing that clients remain informed and their interests safeguarded.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with fellow attorneys, paralegals, and support personnel to ensure the proficient management of cases and the provision of superior legal services.
- Regulatory Compliance: Keep abreast of developments in housing legislation and regulations within New York City and State, ensuring adherence and advising clients as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in housing court litigation, landlord-tenant law, or related fields of real estate law.
