Position Overview

The Behavioral Support Specialist will deliver individualized guidance, parenting education, behavioral assistance, and crisis management to clients and families within the Child Focused ACTT Team. This role also includes providing adaptable respite services during both daytime and evening hours for the children and families served. Responsibilities may encompass a variety of activities, such as engaging children in educational, social, or recreational outings; offering care in-home or within the community to provide primary caregivers with essential relief; and delivering in-home and/or community-based support and coaching as needed for skill development. Additionally, the Specialist will assist with technological needs related to program requirements, including iPhone setup and installation of the Mozzaz Lifetiles App.

This is a full-time salaried position that includes a comprehensive benefits package. The role is based out of our office, with standard working hours and occasional after-hours or weekend responsibilities to accommodate client needs, including participation in a rotating crisis response system. The Specialist will be required to travel to meet clients, families, and stakeholders in various community settings to fulfill job responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Specific duties include:

Behavioral Support & Respite Services:
  • Collaborate proactively with ACTT Team members to foster a strengths-based approach for families and communities.
  • Deliver direct behavioral coaching and skill development support to clients and their families.
  • Utilize effective intervention strategies and problem-solving techniques across all treatment environments, prioritizing the least restrictive methods.
  • Exemplify respect, empathy, and appropriate boundaries in all interactions with clients and family members.
  • Facilitate planned respite care for children and families on the Child Focused ACTT Team.
  • Organize and supervise educational, social, and recreational activities for children.
  • Provide transportation for clients or family members as necessary for respite services.
  • Administer medication to children during respite activities when required.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Assist with technical support for tele-psychiatric and teletherapy services, including iPhone setup and Mozzaz Lifetiles app installation.
Clinical Team Participation/Training/Documentation:
  • Engage as a member of the clinical team with a client-centered focus through participation in daily staffing meetings, team discussions, clinical reviews, and training events.
  • Complete all necessary service documentation, screening tools, and forms in accordance with agency and Medicaid standards.
  • Ensure timely completion of incident reports following agency, state, and Medicaid guidelines, utilizing the Electronic Health Record system during shifts.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, practices, and procedures, reporting any non-compliance or safety concerns to a supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Must meet qualifications as an AP or QP (QP preferred).
  • AP qualifications: MA in Human Services with less than 1 year of experience -OR- BA in Human Services with less than 2 years of experience -OR- BA in an unrelated field with less than 4 years of experience.
  • QP qualifications: MA in Human Services with 1 year of experience with the population -OR- BA in Human Services with 2 years of experience with the population -OR- Licensed or Provisionally Licensed Professional Provider in the relevant field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with children experiencing serious emotional disturbances.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, analytical, interpersonal, leadership, and professionalism skills are essential.
  • Basic computer and math skills are required.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, criminal background checks, HCPR, and driving record checks is required.
  • Personal car insurance and registration information must be provided if transporting clients in a personal vehicle.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Essential functions include reading, typing, writing, speaking, and prolonged sitting at a desk while working on a computer.
  • The employee must be able to operate a vehicle for job duties and maintain a valid driver's license with insurance.
  • The work environment is typically characterized by slight to moderate office-related noise. The employee is not exposed to extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Occasional travel to various locations may be necessary during the course of work.
  • Essential functions also include public speaking, reading, typing, writing, using the telephone, driving, and therapeutically restraining children and adolescents in crisis situations.
Salary Range:

$44,000-$55,000
