Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Specialist

This position is for a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Specialist (Victim Advocate) in the Army National Guard Units. The successful candidate will assist victims of sexual assault and domestic violence towards the process of recovery, through advocacy and resource information.

- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, referral, ongoing non-clinical support, and serves as a resource on available options to assist victims in making informed decisions regarding reporting options and care.
- Develop an appropriate plan of assistance and intervention which provides for the safety of the victim and their family members.
- Provide continuity of care and ensures coordination with all applicable National Guard functions, State SAPR and DPH.
- Conduct risk assessments of individuals to determine immediate needs and evaluates safety and levels of risks; provides emotional support and guidance to victims in crisis while addressing the individual's needs and desires.
- Provide crisis intervention in the immediate aftermath of sexual assault or domestic violence/abuse and develops safety plans based on initial and ongoing risk assessments.
- Provide restricted and unrestricted reporting options addressing confidential disclosure and privacy to the victim.
- Provide referral services at the Wing/BDE/JFHQ-State as well as the surrounding communities.
- During imminent risk of serious harm or death, notify the DPH and law enforcement and provide physical support by being present until the DPH can coordinate the appropriate next steps.
- Direct the victim to DPH, or civilian authorities if DPH is unavailable, when a sexual assault or domestic violence case involves child abuse or a victim under the age of 18.
- Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
- Qualifications: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
- Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
