Position Overview: The Patient Admission Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient admission process for patients across various age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and seniors. This position involves gathering essential information related to patients' social, financial, and limited medical history, and accurately inputting this data into the hospital's information system.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conducts interviews with incoming patients or their representatives, meticulously recording necessary identifying details into the hospital's registration system. Ensures that all required consent forms are obtained.

2. Facilitates the admission of patients, whether through emergency room visits or direct referrals from physician offices. Assigns appropriate rooms, compiles patient charts, and prepares necessary identification materials such as wristbands. Engages with insurance providers to secure pre-certification for admissions and organizes an insurance folder containing all relevant documentation.

3. Manages the registration process for outpatient surgical procedures, including pre-admission testing and providing patients with detailed instructions. Verifies insurance coverage and pre-certification as needed.

4. Provides essential backup support for the switchboard during designated hours, ensuring continuous communication and assistance.

5. Registers patients for various outpatient services, collecting demographic and insurance information while obtaining necessary authorizations through referral forms or direct communication with physicians. Inputs orders into the system and secures all required signatures.

6. Processes patient discharges and transfers through the hospital's computer system as requested.

7. Collects payments for various services, including clinical consultations and co-payments, ensuring accurate daily balancing of cash and credit transactions.

8. Verifies patient information in the event of expiration, obtaining necessary signatures for autopsy consent and removal permits, as well as preparing death certificates and notifying relevant authorities when required.

9. Maintains open communication with family members regarding the patient's condition, providing updates and support.

10. Refers patients to appropriate social service agencies as needed, ensuring comprehensive care.

11. Monitors the cleanliness and organization of the lobby area and designated waiting rooms, contributing to a welcoming environment for patients and visitors.
