Job OverviewSenior Systems Architect:

General Role Description:

The NEE Program offers exceptional engineering and integration services to support the mission of the NGA's Source Directorates, which focuses on gathering, creating, and managing authoritative GEOINT content and services. This is achieved through a deep understanding of customer requirements, combined with expertise in the GEOINT supplier market, advanced tradecraft, and innovative technology to meet national security objectives. The mission is divided into four primary areas: Data Collection and Operations, Foundational GEOINT, Content Delivery, and Navigation Safety. This senior-level Systems Architect will lead engineering teams in a comprehensive approach to requirements analysis, solution development, scheduling, reliability, resilience, service creation, integration, testing, evaluation, maintainability, and analysis across the NSG, ASG, and Federal Agencies to ensure the delivery of precise and timely GEOINT. Candidates should have extensive experience and knowledge in areas including, but not limited to: requirements and solutions engineering; proficiency in Jira for designing, implementing, and managing workflows and projects; demonstrated use of Kanban boards; experience with Confluence for content management and documentation; software development experience in government or industry; and support for AGILE/Scrum methodologies, including project deliverables, reviews, process development, and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guide the Government in directing requirements analysis, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resilience, service development, integration, testing, evaluation, maintainability, and analysis across the National System of Geospatial-intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-intelligence (ASG), and Federal Agencies.
  • Assist in the planning and analysis of user requirements, architecture traceability, procedures, and system enhancements, while evaluating cloud service capabilities and workflow limitations.
  • Advise the Government on proposed modifications to solution designs based on requirement analysis and emerging technologies.
  • Support the Government in translating mission and customer needs into systems and capability requirements.
  • Assist in the analysis and allocation of requirements to system architecture components and executing programs.
  • Facilitate systems integration activities for the Government.
  • Contribute to Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Support strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design for the Government.
Qualifications and Experience:

Essential Education and Experience:
  • 18+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or related technical/scientific fields such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or equivalent expert-level work experience in Systems Engineering.
  • Expert-level experience in government or industry in relevant areas including: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process, or system engineering of large complex Systems of Systems or Service-Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments.
  • Extensive system engineering experience in government or industry.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering processes, tools, and languages.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Frameworks.
  • INCOSE Associate System Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification.
  • Documented experience in geospatial intelligence.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as ACSM, ASCE, ASPRS, OGC, SAREM, or USGIF.
  • Understanding of photogrammetry, remote sensing, image science, information sciences, geographic information systems, geomatics, or related fields.
  • Awareness of current NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises.
  • Comprehension of organizational and program-specific processes, best practices, and product evaluations/audits to ensure compliance with established policies and standards.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations for resolving defects/non-compliance issues.
  • Knowledge of testing plans and processes.
  • Understanding of Tableau and SharePoint.
Security Clearance:
  • Active TS SCI clearance and willingness to undergo a polygraph examination if required.
