Job Summary

The Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) is a collaborative effort between the Army and leading research institutions to provide students and teachers with hands-on STEM research opportunities. As an Outreach Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the AEOP Internships and Fellowships program, which aims to attract and retain the next generation of STEM talent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the AEOP Internships and Fellowships application process, ensuring timely and efficient communication with applicants and stakeholders.
  • Manage the AEOP program email account and phone number, responding to inquiries and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Track the onboarding process for all participants, ensuring a smooth transition into the program.
  • Manage supplies, procurement, and inventory for the AEOP team, including assembly and shipping of materials to participants.
  • Lead the STEM Research Journal administrative process, creating annual abstract books and ensuring their timely publication.
  • Provide support to enrichment workshops, STEM Foundations, speaker series, recruitment at conferences, and coaching participants.
  • Represent RIT and the AEOP professionally at all times, embodying the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in STEM outreach and education, with a focus on hands-on education and STEM careers.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with audiences of all backgrounds and education levels.
  • Experience in advising or mentoring students, with a strong understanding of STEM educational and career paths.
  • Familiarity with STEM research and a passion for inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with DoD/Army laboratories and experience working with military-connected families or Jr. ROTC.
  • Experience with grant programs and event planning.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) and a strong understanding of the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM education.
