Position Overview:
This role is situated within a prestigious educational institution, providing the flexibility for remote work across the United States.

Tax Compliance:
Due to state regulations, individual tax reporting and withholdings will be necessary for candidates based in New York State. Additional state income tax filings may apply for those working from other states.

The Information Technology department plays a pivotal role in supporting various functions across the university, ensuring that faculty, staff, and students receive the necessary technical assistance.

Team Overview:
The Cloud & Infrastructure Services team is dedicated to maintaining the computing and storage frameworks essential for application deployment and data security. The Systems Support team focuses on delivering reliable Linux and Windows environments, emphasizing technical expertise and a proactive approach to security and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage the deployment of both physical and virtual servers in various environments, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Support on-premises virtual server infrastructures, including hypervisors and hyperconverged systems.
  • Establish and enforce security protocols, assess risks, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex technical issues.
  • Lead projects aimed at enhancing Windows Server management and performance.
  • Document system standards and explore innovative solutions for system administration.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field with 5-7 years of experience in Windows server management.
  • Proven expertise in managing server deployments in both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows operating systems, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and network protocols.
  • Proficiency in Windows PowerShell scripting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with firewall management and load balancing.
  • Familiarity with managing Windows servers using automation tools.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Windows Systems Engineering.
