Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Windows Systems Engineer will ensure a secure and efficient Windows server environment as part of the Managed Servers service.
Your primary duties will include:

  • Designing, implementing, and supporting the deployment of both physical and virtual servers in on-premises data centers and cloud environments, including server OS image builds, hardening, and configuration management.
  • Assisting in the support of on-premises virtual server environments, including hypervisors and hyperconverged infrastructure.
  • Implementing strategies for safeguarding the infrastructure, including developing security policies, assessing risks, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with established security standards.
  • Providing advanced troubleshooting for complex technical issues within the environment.
  • Leading systems and infrastructure projects to enhance Windows Server management.
  • Documenting and maintaining system standards; researching and proposing innovative approaches for system administration tasks.
  • Participating in 24x7 on-call escalation support as part of a team rotation.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong service orientation, the ability to prioritize multiple high-level tasks, and sound judgment in security matters. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, particularly in conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 5-7 years of experience in production Windows server management.
  • Expertise in managing production server deployments both on-premises and in cloud environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows operating system management, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and configuration management.
  • Experience with virtualized infrastructure, hyperconverged storage, and network protocols.
  • Proficiency in Windows PowerShell scripting for local and remote tasks.
  • Demonstrated strategic, critical, and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to build inclusive and equitable relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing firewall appliances and load balancers in both on-premises and cloud settings.
  • Experience with large-scale Windows server management using Ansible.
  • Familiarity with VMware and/or Nutanix technologies.
  • Relevant Microsoft Windows Systems Engineering certifications (e.g., MCSE, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator).
