Amalgamated Bank is in search of a Human Resources Business Partner to deliver comprehensive and strategic HR assistance to the Banking & Investments and Operations & Product sectors. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing the culture and employee experience across divisions and the organization as a whole. Reporting directly to the EVP, CHRO, this individual will provide expert consulting across a full spectrum of HR services, including management consulting, employee relations, talent development, compensation strategies, organizational development, talent acquisition, and overall talent management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business units to synchronize people-focused strategies with management goals.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the business units, including their objectives, culture, and competitive landscape.
- Exhibit business insight through a comprehensive understanding of the business unit's functions and roles, recognizing how each contributes to the bank's success.
- Engage in the establishment and execution of change initiatives that support business objectives.
- Proactively identify HR-related needs and communicate these within HR and business management to develop cohesive solutions.
- Advise management on human resource-related matters.
- Provide guidance and interpretation of HR policies.
- Work closely with management and staff to enhance work relationships, boost morale, and improve productivity and retention.
- Offer expertise, guidance, and coaching to leaders in managing and resolving sensitive and complex employee relations issues.
- Build partnerships across the HR function and with line management and employees to deliver value-added services.
- Utilize metrics to analyze workforce issues and trends.
- Manage projects and support process enhancements within the Human Resources department.
- Deliver direct recruiting support for designated roles.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Problem Solving & Decision Making:
- Self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Make independent decisions appropriate for a VP-level role.
- Evaluate challenges and proactively communicate solutions to the CHRO and business unit leaders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience as a Human Resources Business Partner.
- Proven track record as a business partner to managers, driving strategic people-related changes.
- Experience in talent management, organizational development, employee relations, and recruitment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively translate business objectives into actionable HR strategies.
- Ability to collaborate and influence peers and leaders in making informed business decisions.
- Capability to build strong, trusting relationships to achieve collaborative results.
- In-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management.
- Experience leading special projects and teams by creating and executing project action plans.
- Proven ability to support a geographically diverse team and navigate various state HR laws.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ADP HR systems.
- Experience with merger and acquisition activities is a plus.
- Experience working with unionized environments is advantageous.
