ROLE SUMMARY...

In the capacity of an Electrical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include the design of electrical power conversion products tailored for critical aircraft systems and cabin applications. You will engage with the complete product lifecycle, from initial concept and requirements gathering through to design, implementation, testing, certification, and field application. Success in this role necessitates familiarity with various technologies, including DC-to-AC inverters, DC-to-DC converters, AC-to-DC converters, AC-AC converters, battery system power regulation, and power distribution and control. You will encounter opportunities ranging from 10W to over 600W capabilities, contributing to our reputation as a premier provider of instruments, avionics, and aircraft power solutions.

THIS ROLE IS IDEAL FOR YOU IF...

  • You possess a master's degree in electrical engineering or a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in designing power conversion products.
  • You demonstrate proficiency in designing and troubleshooting analog circuits and switch-mode power electronics.
  • You have a solid background in magnetics, including power transformers and filters.
  • You are skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
  • You thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • You exhibit strong attention to detail.
  • You are organized, focused, and results-driven.
  • You possess problem-solving abilities with critical thinking and prioritization skills.
  • You have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

WE WOULD PREFER IT IF YOU HAVE...

  • Experience in designing products that meet environmental standards such as RTCA DO-160 or similar aerospace, military, or commercial specifications.
  • Familiarity with PADS or similar schematic capture and PCB layout software, along with PSpice or LTSpice simulation tools.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacture and Design for Test (DFM & DFT) methodologies.

YOUR DAILY EXPECTATIONS...

  • Create schematics and oversee PCB layout using PADS.
  • Investigate new components, technologies, and methodologies for incorporation into new designs.
  • Collaborate with other functional teams, including layout, mechanical, software, and certification engineers.
  • Assemble and troubleshoot hardware, which includes soldering, operating test equipment, and working in both office and test lab settings.
  • Design and implement test procedures to ensure compliance with relevant performance, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Develop and integrate manufacturing tools as necessary for new products.
  • Document designs in required formats, including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions.
