Unit Member / Designated Engineering Representative - Avionics & Electrical Systems Engineering

Position Overview:

This role is pivotal in ensuring that designs meet certification standards, collaborating with regulatory bodies, addressing certification challenges, establishing the certification framework, formulating the certification strategy, overseeing certification testing, and guaranteeing compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the successful integration and certification of vendor equipment into Textron Aviation aircraft.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, engineering schematics, and other essential documentation.
  • Engage with clients and suppliers to define system specifications and resolve issues.
  • Handle complex development, design, testing, and certification tasks for new designs or modifications.
  • Provide innovative solutions to intricate design challenges during assignments.
  • Utilize advanced engineering principles in daily operations.
  • Coordinate efforts among various support teams for project execution.
  • Advise suppliers on materials, equipment, and hardware for aircraft applications in accordance with approved specifications.
  • Collaborate with Product Support Engineering and production teams to troubleshoot engineering challenges and implement design modifications.
  • Assess supplier proposals for potential future engagements.
  • Guide engineers and report writers in resolving specific design challenges during development and testing phases.
  • Ensure program progress, challenges, and accomplishments are communicated to management through design reviews and updates.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • FAA designee (ODA UM or DER) -14 CFR Part 23.
  • Experience in integrating multiple systems within certification projects.
  • A minimum of 7 years of engineering experience or relevant aviation technical expertise.
Required Skills:
  • Strong computer, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Effective time management skills for handling multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of avionics and electrical system design under 14 CFR Part 23.
  • Experience with computer-aided wiring diagram and harnessing software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Understanding of electrical bonding criteria, thermal cooling requirements, EMI shielding, and installation standards.
