ROLE SUMMARY...

In the capacity of an Electrical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include the design of electrical power conversion products tailored for critical aircraft systems and cabin functionalities. You will engage with the complete product lifecycle, encompassing concept development, requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, certification, and field application. Success in this role necessitates familiarity with various technologies, including DC-to-AC inverters, DC-to-DC converters, AC-to-DC converters, AC-AC converters, battery system power regulation, and power distribution and control. You will encounter projects with power capabilities ranging from 10W to over 600W. Your contributions will be pivotal in establishing our reputation as a premier provider of instruments, avionics, and aircraft power solutions.

THIS ROLE IS A GOOD FIT IF YOU...

  • Hold a master's degree or a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in designing power conversion products.
  • Are proficient in designing and troubleshooting analog circuits and switch-mode power electronics.
  • Have a background in magnetics, including power transformers and filters.
  • Are skilled in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail.
  • Are organized, focused, and results-driven.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving abilities with critical thinking and prioritization skills.
  • Possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

WE WOULD PREFER IF YOU HAVE...

  • Experience in designing products that meet environmental standards such as RTCA DO-160 or similar aerospace, military, or commercial criteria.
  • Familiarity with PADS or similar schematic capture and PCB layout software, as well as PSpice or LTSpice simulation tools.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacture and Design for Test (DFM & DFT) methodologies.

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE...

  • Creating schematics and overseeing PCB layout using PADS.
  • Researching new components, technologies, and methodologies for incorporation into new designs.
  • Coordinating with other functional teams, including layout, mechanical, software, and certification engineers.
  • Building and troubleshooting hardware, which includes soldering, operating test equipment, and working in both office and test lab settings.
  • Designing and executing test procedures to ensure compliance with relevant performance, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Designing and integrating manufacturing tools as necessary for new products.
  • Documenting designs in required formats, including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions.
