ROLE SUMMARY...

In the capacity of an Electrical Design Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to engineer electrical power conversion devices for critical aircraft systems and cabin functionalities. You will engage in the complete product lifecycle, encompassing concept development, requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, certification, and field application. Success in this role requires familiarity with various technologies, including DC-to-AC inverters, DC-to-DC converters, AC-to-DC converters, AC-AC converters, battery system power regulation, and power distribution and control. Expect to work on projects ranging from 10W to over 600W capabilities. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining our reputation as a leading provider of instruments, avionics, and aircraft power solutions.

THIS ROLE IS A GOOD FIT IF YOU...

  • Hold a master's degree or a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
  • Possess at least 5 years of experience in designing power conversion devices.
  • Are skilled in designing and troubleshooting analog circuits and switch-mode power electronics.

  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS WE VALUE...

  • Experience in designing to environmental standards such as RTCA DO-160 or similar aerospace, military, or commercial requirements.
  • Familiarity with PADS or similar schematic capture and PCB layout software, as well as PSpice or LTSpice simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Design for Test (DFM & DFT) principles.

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE...

  • Develop schematics and oversee PCB layout using PADS.
  • Investigate new components, technologies, and methodologies for incorporation into new designs.
  • Collaborate with other functional teams, including layout, mechanical, software, and certification engineers.
  • Assemble and troubleshoot hardware, which includes soldering, operating test equipment, and working in both office and lab environments.
  • Design and implement test procedures to ensure compliance with relevant performance, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Design and integrate manufacturing tools as required for new products.
  • Create and document designs in necessary formats, including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions.
