Overview: This role is pivotal in the development of meal plans, conducting nutrition education initiatives, and creating training programs for nutrition services across various counties. The position also involves assisting in the supervision of departmental personnel and ensuring operational compliance as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with catering services to design and validate menus that align with funding requirements and client preferences; coordinates with program staff for menu alterations during special occasions. Maintains certification documentation for menu changes.
  • Prepares and submits nutrition program menus along with nutritional assessments to the relevant Department of Disabilities and Aging Services (DAS) across designated counties.
  • Partners with program managers to ensure adherence to DAS nutrition compliance, guaranteeing that nutrition sites meet federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
  • Conducts evaluations of kitchen facilities to confirm compliance with DAS, local health department, and program standards.
  • Aids the Director in preparing for DAS audits and monitoring processes.
  • Gathers client feedback and collaborates with caterers to uphold high-quality meal services.
  • Organizes and oversees all nutrition education initiatives, including the development of educational materials and resource compilation.
  • Creates and manages a training schedule and resources for staff and volunteers.
  • Assists in supervising departmental staff and ensuring operational compliance as necessary.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Dietitian license with a minimum of one year of experience working with older adults.
  • Familiarity with Asian dietary practices and expertise in quality Asian ethnic food planning and control.
  • California Food Protection Manager Certification required within three months of hire.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Cantonese.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Chinese word processing, and internet navigation; familiarity with NutriBase 16 is a plus.
  • Must successfully complete a physical fitness strength test prior to employment, including the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, stooping, standing, and walking.
