Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

In collaboration with the Senior Director of Culinary Services, the Nutritional Culinary Specialist is responsible for developing wholesome recipes alongside the culinary team, offering dietary advice, and providing education to both clients and culinary staff. This role also entails managing the food service software to enhance operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and driven by a mission to improve nutritional outcomes.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Culinary Arts, or a related discipline
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or eligibility for registration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and nutrition analysis software
  • Effective communication skills to work with a diverse kitchen team
  • Fluency in English for clear communication within the kitchen
  • Empathy towards individuals facing critical health challenges and seniors
  • Flexible availability to accommodate occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to thrive in a traditional kitchen environment with varying conditions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of experience in culinary nutrition, menu development, or a related area

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leverage technology to enhance the operations of Nutrition and Culinary Services.
  • Oversee the management of software programs to facilitate meal production and service.
  • Input and maintain data on ingredients, recipes, nutritional content, and menus.
  • Actively participate in the menu committee.
  • Standardize recipes to ensure consistency.
  • Conduct cost analysis of recipes to adhere to budgetary guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the menu committee to create and adjust menus based on established guidelines, client preferences, and cultural considerations.
  • Perform nutrient analyses of menus to ensure compliance with dietary standards.
  • Develop training materials for the Culinary Services team.
  • Conduct food safety audits.
  • Utilize client feedback to innovate recipes, focusing on plant-based options.
  • Coordinate training related to computer systems and menu management for the Culinary Services team.
  • Enhance client satisfaction through continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct nutrition assessments and provide education as needed.
  • Create educational content related to nutrition when necessary.
