Job Overview

Position Summary
AKS Engineering & Forestry is in search of a skilled civil engineer to fill the role of Project Manager in our team. This position is centered on overseeing the development of our public infrastructure and transportation design services for various local authorities. You will collaborate closely with our leadership and diverse project teams on a variety of initiatives across the region. This role is perfect for a licensed professional who can spearhead project designs and manage tasks independently.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate

  • At least 10 years of experience in civil engineering design related to public sector projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field (mandatory).
  • Valid Washington Professional Engineer (PE) license (mandatory).
  • Experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads design software.
  • Capability to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Experience working with local and/or state agencies in Washington.
  • Familiarity with local regulations and agency standards.
  • Strong grasp of project scope, timelines, budget management, and effective team leadership.
  • Various technical skills in civil engineering along with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Experience in managing projects effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proposal and report writing.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and detail-oriented.
  • Accountable for delivering quality work within budgetary and time constraints.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Possession of a valid US driver's license.

Key Responsibilities
This full-time role involves providing design engineering for utility, educational, recreational, transportation, and public infrastructure projects. Working alongside a Principal, the following responsibilities will be undertaken:

  • Identify and pursue new clients and business prospects.
  • Oversee and guide a multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead the development of proposals for public sector projects.
  • Coordinate and manage projects with leadership and team members.
  • Define and manage project scope to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance for the project design team.
  • Design and prepare preliminary and final plans and specifications.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews of deliverables.
  • Manage all aspects of the project from proposal through to construction.
  • Execute site and infrastructure design according to local standards, ensuring effective communication with jurisdictional planning and engineering staff to minimize future changes.
