Position Summary
AKS Engineering & Forestry is in search of a dedicated civil engineer to take on the role of Project Manager in our organization. This position will focus on spearheading the development of our public works and transportation design services for various local entities. You will collaborate closely with our leadership team and diverse project leads on a variety of initiatives across the region. This role is perfect for a licensed professional who is capable of leading project designs and managing tasks independently.
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate
- At least 10 years of experience in civil engineering design pertaining to public sector projects.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field (mandatory).
- Possession of a Washington Professional Engineer (PE) license (mandatory).
- Experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads design software.
- Proven ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities.
- Experience working with local and/or state agencies in Washington.
- Familiarity with local regulations and agency standards.
- Strong grasp of project scope, scheduling, budget management, and effective team leadership.
- Technical skills in civil engineering and excellent organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in project management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proposal and report writing.
- Self-driven, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Accountable for delivering quality work within set budgets and timelines.
- Able to work efficiently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Must hold a valid US driver's license.
Key Responsibilities
This full-time role involves providing design engineering for various projects including utilities, education, recreation, transportation, and public works. In collaboration with a Principal, the following responsibilities will be undertaken:
- Identify and pursue new clients and business opportunities.
- Oversee and guide a multidisciplinary team.
- Lead the development of proposals for public sector projects.
- Coordinate and manage projects alongside principals and staff.
- Define and manage project scope to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Offer technical leadership to the project design team.
- Design and prepare preliminary and final plans and specifications.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of project deliverables.
- Oversee all project components from proposal to construction.
- Execute site and infrastructure design in accordance with jurisdictional standards, ensuring effective communication with planning and engineering staff.
