Key Responsibilities
Hartzell Engine Technologies is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to enhance the manufacturing processes for original equipment and re-manufactured components used in aerospace applications.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be accountable for ensuring effective process management throughout the manufacturing operations. The products involved include turbocharger systems, alternators, cabin heating systems, starters, and fuel pumps, all of which must comply with FAA regulations.

Key Deliverables of Position
1. Develop and maintain Process FMEAs and Control Plans.
2. Assist in the creation of work instructions and coordinate training sessions.
3. Establish and maintain inspection plans for both purchased and manufactured components.
4. Engage in Process qualification and PPAP activities.
5. Lead initiatives in resolving customer issues.
6. Participate in CAR and SCAR management.
7. Review engineering drawings and incorporate modifications into work instructions.
8. Collaborate on improvement initiatives with Supplier Quality and operations.
9. Take part in Change Control Board (CCB) activities.
10. Contribute to Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
11. Monitor compliance with HET Quality manuals and procedures.

First Year Success Factors
1. Become knowledgeable in assigned product lines, including engineering drawings, work instructions, and customer requirements.
2. Enhance one product line in terms of First Time Yield (FTY) and scrap reduction.

Requirements
Preferred Education and Experience:
BS Degree in Engineering or 7 years of experience in implementing effective systems within a manufacturing environment.

Required Technical Competencies:
1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
2. Proficient in Quality Engineering, Quality Control, and Metrology:
a. Capable of developing manufacturing standards to ensure consistent machining practices.
b. Skilled in inspecting parts using manual gauging and understanding inspection instructions.
c. Experienced in utilizing automated inspection methods.
d. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
e. Knowledgeable in applying statistical principles such as SPC, capability studies, and histograms.
f. Able to organize, conduct, and interpret Gage R&R studies.
3. Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes:
a. Ability to develop plausible root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
b. Familiarity with Six Sigma and Kaizen principles.
4. Knowledge of manufacturing processes:
a. Understanding of automated machine tools and inspection techniques.
b. Familiarity with metal cutting operations, fixtures, tooling, and machining.
c. Experience with CNC programming and applications.
d. Knowledge of raw material processing (casting vs. forgings, etc.).
e. Understanding of material characteristics (Aluminum, Steel, Elastomers, etc.).
5. Organizational skills:
a. Knowledge of LEAN principles.
b. Experience in group facilitation and project management.
6. Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Preferred Technical Competencies:
1. Operation and programming of CMM equipment.
2. Experience with nondestructive inspection methods (magnetic particle and fluorescent penetrant).
3. DMIR certification through the FAA.
4. Ability to create FMEAs and develop Control Plans.
5. Familiarity with aviation quality management systems (e.g., AS9100) and FAA regulations.
6. Greenbelt certification in Lean Six Sigma.
