Job Summary

VCU Health is seeking a highly skilled Disaster Recovery Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for conducting research, performing risk assessments, and creating training materials to ensure the continuity and consistency of our disaster recovery plans across the Health System.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct research and perform risk assessments to identify potential threats to our disaster recovery plans
Collaborate with subject matter experts from multiple departments to ensure continuity and consistency across the Health System
Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery plans, including creating clear, concise user manuals, guides, and reports
Communicate complex technical information effectively to various stakeholders
Conduct regular training and awareness sessions, including failover scenarios, tabletop drills, and real failovers

Requirements

Associate degree in information technology or related field with 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field with 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of related experience and education
3+ years of experience working with disaster recovery program documentations, policies, standards, and guidelines
Strong communication skills and ability to discuss disaster recovery with business leaders
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
Strong teaming skills, collaboration, negotiation, communication with excellent analytical abilities including but not limited to process analysis and development, problem solving and root cause analysis

Work Environment

General office environment
Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions
Prolonged periods of working alone
