Position Summary: The role of Quality Inspector I is crucial in ensuring that our products adhere to engineering specifications and customer expectations. This position involves inspecting procured components from suppliers, as well as products and assemblies from our manufacturing operations. Your insights will contribute to ongoing improvements throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that our clients receive dependable spaceflight hardware.

Specific Focus: This position emphasizes electrical inspection, requiring expertise in circuit board evaluation and certifications in IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of mechanical components utilizing precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.
  • Examine printed wiring boards (PWB) and verify the integrity of electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) components.
  • Inspect spaceflight components including buses, solar arrays, and reaction wheels.
  • Review and validate incoming documentation from suppliers, ensuring material traceability and compliance with test reports.
  • Document inspection activities through electronic systems and maintain accurate logs.
  • Witness and confirm various testing and setup operations.
  • Identify non-conforming conditions and report findings clearly.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Manufacturing teams to address process and product discrepancies.
  • Promote a cooperative team environment that encourages learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Adhere to safety practices and proactively suggest improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; higher education may substitute for experience.
  • Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience in inspection or quality engineering within aerospace, electronics manufacturing, or precision machining.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T ASME Y14.5) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic workmanship standards (IPC600, IPC610, IPC620) is essential; current certification is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical schematics.
  • Experience in Receiving Inspection and material certification review.
  • Proficient in using ERP/MRP and engineering data management software.
  • Understanding of material flow in manufacturing and the significance of tool calibration.
  • Familiarity with ISO9000 standards relevant to manufacturing and quality operations; AS9100 experience is a plus.

Working Environment: This position operates within a professional office environment integrated with a manufacturing setting. Standard office equipment will be utilized, including computers and other related devices.

Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional standing, bending, and walking. Light physical effort is necessary, including the ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required for this position.
