Job Summary:

KBR is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of space instruments, components, subsystems, and subassemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement mission assurance requirements over the entire life-cycle.
  • Monitor processes for compliance to developer's procedures and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure that flight hardware anomalies, corrective actions, and re-verifications are documented in accordance with the contractors' non-conformance and corrective action system.
  • Review processes prior to use, and monitor when used, will include, but not limited to:
    • Printed Circuit Board quality assessment
    • Workmanship including coatings
    • Soldering
    • ESD controls
    • Clean room activities and controls
    • Cable and harness fabrication
    • Contamination control
    • Parts and materials control
    • Control of drawings and procedures
    • Equipment moves (e.g. slings, cranes, and hydrosets)
    • Hazardous operations
    • Contractor responses to corrective action requests
    • Build records, end-item data packages
    • Delivery, storage and transport of flight and non-flight hardware, and critical ground support equipment (GSE)
    • Support Spacecraft transportation planning
    • Spacecraft readiness review(s); pre-ship to launch site
    • Spacecraft transport to launch site monitor; purge, battery health and dynamics
    • Launch site processing; Post-Ship Aliveness Testing, Anomaly Resolution, SiteMovements, Spacecraft Fueling, GSE Compliance, Spacecraft to LaunchVehicle Adapter Final Torque verifications, Red/Green Tag verifications,Ordnance installations, Final Closeouts, Final Fairing Installation Inspections andDay of Launch support, Post Launch support, Ground Operations Support

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Fifteen (15) or more years' experience in manufacture, assembly and/or quality assurance of NASA space flight hardware

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, in an Engineering, Science, or other Technical Discipline
  • 15 or more years' experience in a QE/QI role on NASA projects
  • Experience working/supporting critical path FRB's for a previous NASA project

Preferred Training:

  • IPC J-STD-001xS (Soldering, Space Addendum)
  • NASA-STD Staking and Conformal Coating)
  • NASA-STD or IPC/WHMA-A-620xS (Crimping, Cables & Wiring)
  • Developer-specific ESD Control training or training traceable to ANSI/ESD S20.20 (Electrostatic Discharge)
  • NASA-STD Workmanship Implementation Standard
