POSITION SUMMARY:
BCA is in search of a visionary and strategic Director of Institutional Giving to enhance our Development Team. Collaborating closely with the Development Coordinator and the Senior Director of Development, this role will focus on cultivating relationships with foundations, government entities, and corporate sponsors to secure funding as we aim to reach a contributed support goal of $1.7 million for the fiscal year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate approximately $1 million in funding from institutional sources each fiscal year.
  • Oversee all facets of relationships with foundation, government, and corporate donors, including organizing meetings with program officers, soliciting contributions, nurturing new funding relationships, and ensuring effective stewardship of existing funders.
  • Conduct research and prepare successful applications for grants to support BCA's programs, operations, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with BCA Finance to maintain a timeline for institutional giving, ensuring timely submission of proposals and reports.
  • Engage regularly with all funders through letters, emails, calls, invitations, and personal visits.
  • Contribute to budget planning, goal setting, and strategic planning to assist in developing the Development Team's annual operating plans.
  • Work alongside Marketing & Communications and Artistic Programming teams to create and manage fundraising event sponsorships and in-kind donations.
  • Establish and oversee institutional marketing agreements for sponsor recognition in conjunction with Marketing & Communications.
  • Develop and implement solicitation and cultivation strategies leveraging networks from BCA staff, Board of Directors, community partners, and new business relationships.
  • Participate in Board of Directors meetings and committees as required.
  • Attend all necessary staff and departmental meetings, fostering collaboration with all BCA staff.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development resources for resident artists as needed.
  • Support BCA programs and special events as requested, including attendance at evening and weekend performances.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in arts administration or a related field preferred.
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in institutional fundraising and foundation relations, with a strong background in grant writing.
  • Proven success in securing five- and six-figure awards from various funding sources.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Understanding of BCA's mission and a commitment to cultural and racial equity.
  • Strong track record in institutional fundraising.
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues across different departments.
  • Knowledge and appreciation for the visual and performing arts.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and CRM software.

JOB STRUCTURE AND BENEFITS:
This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $75,000 - $85,000. BCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off (PTO), 80% coverage for medical and dental insurance, an FSA plan, short-term disability, and a 403(b) retirement savings plan, along with complimentary tickets to BCA events.
