POSITION SUMMARY:
The Boston Center for the Arts is seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Institutional Giving to enhance our Development Team. Collaborating closely with the Senior Director of Development and supported by the Development Coordinator, this role will focus on cultivating relationships with foundations, government entities, and corporate sponsors to secure essential funding, aiming to achieve a contributed support goal of $1.7 million for the fiscal year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Secure approximately $1 million in funding from institutional sources each fiscal year.
  • Manage all aspects of relationships with foundation, government, and corporate donors, including coordinating meetings, soliciting funds, and maintaining accurate records for grant reporting.
  • Conduct research and submit successful applications for grants to support BCA's programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to manage an institutional giving timeline for timely proposal submissions and reports.
  • Maintain regular communication with funders through letters, emails, phone calls, and personal visits.
  • Engage in budget planning and strategic development to assist in creating annual operating plans for the Development Team.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications to manage fundraising event sponsorships and in-kind donations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to leverage networks established by BCA staff and community partners.
  • Attend Board meetings and participate in departmental meetings, fostering collaboration with all BCA staff.
  • Provide mentorship and resources for resident artists as needed.
  • Support BCA programs and events, with some evening and weekend attendance required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in arts administration or a related field preferred.
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in institutional fundraising and grant writing.
  • Proven track record of securing five- and six-figure awards from various funding sources.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Outgoing and personable demeanor.
  • Understanding of BCA's mission and commitment to equity.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and CRM software.

EMPLOYMENT STRUCTURE AND BENEFITS:
This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $75,000 - $85,000.
