Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Sonographer to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our Heart and Vascular Institute, you will be responsible for performing a full range of diagnostic ultrasound imaging and therapeutic services, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our mission to deliver high-quality diagnostic information for patient treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging and therapeutic services, including echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, and other specialized procedures.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity throughout the imaging process.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment.
  • Maintain expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to imaging, ensuring optimal procedure outcomes.
  • Participate in quality assurance functions, ensuring consistent practice of quality imaging among all shifts and individuals.
  • Develop and implement protocols with supervisors, managers, cardiologists, and vascular surgeons to ensure best practices and patient care.
  • Provide clinical supervision and instruction to students and new staff members, meeting the quality standards of the Echo/Vascular program and its accrediting bodies.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, or graduate of an accredited Medical Sonography program.
  • Certification in two of the following: Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS).
  • Five years of experience in Cardiac and Vascular Sonography.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with exposure to airborne particles and bodily fluids. The ideal candidate will be able to interact positively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, prioritize and deal with multiple situations simultaneously, and improvise with altered positioning techniques and equipment manipulation when necessary.
