We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Trade Specialist to join our team at FedEx Ground. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating the documentation required by US Customs and Government Agencies for the entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate with internal staff, departments, and external partners to ensure seamless customs clearance and compliance with all regulations.
- Process commodities that require specialized processing to reduce the risk of liquidated ages and penalties through classification and the application of proper duty preference.
- Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release from various sources, including databases, SOPs, tariff books, and the internet.
- Perform data entry and processing of various import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and handle all PGA's (Participating Government Agencies).
- Maintain and keep current all shipment documentation in compliance with all record-keeping requirements.
- Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations.
- Work closely with other internal staff, departments, and external partners to deliver a high level of service to customers.
- Process agency brokerage shipments and handle remote filings as needed.
- Perform entry reconciliations and reviews as needed.
- Ensure all government and organizational policies are followed.
- Follow up on customs matters and resolve problems.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 12 months of industry experience preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months of work experience required.
- Data entry/keyboard experience required.
- CCS and/or Brokers license preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Organizational skills.
- Inter-personal skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to use multiple systems and reference materials.
- Interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management of all levels.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.
- Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM EST with OT as needed and holidays.
- This role is variable remote, with some work from home opportunity and some in-office work, dependent on company policy.
This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations.
If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum.
Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential.
