Role Summary:

The Quality Control Chemist will play a crucial role in the Quality Control Laboratory, conducting analytical assessments in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Adherence to all relevant cGMP standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analytical evaluations using established methods, including but not limited to:
    • moisture content analysis, density measurements, particle size assessment, UV-Vis spectrometry, FTIR spectrometry, TOC analysis, HPLC and UPLC chromatography, dissolution testing, and weighing.
  • Perform light administrative tasks, such as data entry and logging incoming samples, and coordinate with third-party laboratories for result follow-ups.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and instrument technicians.
  • Manage and track inventory of chemicals and laboratory supplies, placing orders with managerial approval.
  • Under general supervision, execute analytical testing procedures and prepare documentation for team use.
  • Conduct chemical and physical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Guarantee the accuracy and quality of laboratory results.
  • Ensure timely testing and investigate any out-of-specification results to determine root causes.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all tests and related activities.
  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain analytical instruments, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Draft, revise, and review Standard Operating Procedures, protocols, and reports; engage in method development and validation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to prioritize urgent orders and fulfill daily operational demands.
  • Review and approve raw material lots, bulk product batches, and finished product batches.
  • Assist in the execution of annual GMP and GLP audits.
  • Utilize professional expertise to address a variety of complex situations effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of experience in a quality control laboratory or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • A genuine interest in working within a Quality Control Laboratory and a passion for the chemistry process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Familiarity with fundamental analytical techniques (HPLC, UV/Vis, FTIR, GC, ICP-MS, UPLC, etc.).
  • Experience with method validation is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform repetitive motions as necessary.
  • Willingness to work with nutraceutical raw materials and powders, including potential allergens.
  • Basic computer literacy is essential.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to maintain organization across departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of addressing diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience in food or pharmaceutical processing within an FDA-regulated environment is preferred.

Compensation:

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position is between $66,560.00 and $68,000. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and education.
