Position Overview:

The ideal candidate for the Shop Foreman role will possess outstanding manufacturing expertise, along with a solid understanding and hands-on experience with various CNC machinery and controls.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Interpreting customer job travelers and work orders, as well as mechanical blueprints.
  • Preparing and implementing computer control programs for machining centers.
  • Selecting, inspecting, and installing appropriate tooling.
  • Operating computer-controlled machining centers in a safe and productive team environment.
As a Shop Foreman, you will oversee the overall direction, coordination, safety, and evaluation of personnel within the Machine Shop. Your leadership will ensure that our company maintains its reputation for producing high-quality, timely parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with shop employees and department managers to organize work across all shifts.
  • Enhance efficiency while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Lead efforts to meet and exceed production targets.
  • Develop and enforce training programs and production policies.
  • Utilize gaging and inspection equipment to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to company certification and ISO registration requirements.
  • Oversee the presetting process for optimal equipment utilization.
  • Monitor workloads and schedules to guarantee timely deliveries while upholding quality standards.
  • Interface with the company ERP system on a daily basis.
  • Identify training, machinery, tooling, and process needs for the department.
  • Manage departmental expenses and budgets effectively.
  • Plan sequences and review time standards for part routings.
  • Support and implement lean process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate production history to meet customer requirements.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in productivity and quality.
  • Report any machine or process issues to management.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols established by the company.

Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Five to ten years of experience in the manufacturing sector, with a solid understanding of speeds and feeds.
  • At least two years of leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with MS applications.
  • Strong mathematical skills and aptitude.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this position include:
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching and movement to operate equipment.
  • Continuous standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to manipulate materials and access information via computer.

Work Environment:
A significant portion of the work will be conducted in a machine shop environment, where temperatures may vary and exposure to noise, dust, and coolant vapors is common. Industry-standard safety equipment will be provided, and safety protocols must be followed.
