Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary
University of Maryland Medical System seeks a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to perform analyses on various sample types. The ideal candidate will maintain proper records, utilize independent judgment to generate acceptable test results, and ensure quality, efficiency, and safety in laboratory functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently perform waived, moderate, and high complexity testing using manual and automated processes.
- Identify and resolve analytical problems, troubleshoot equipment issues, and take corrective action in evaluating testing procedures, patient results, and specimen integrity.
- Review and record quality control and determine the acceptability of testing, patient results, and instrument function.
- Respond to clinical and customer concerns, resolve customer issues in a confidential manner, and employ integrity and discretion.
- Attend and participate in mandatory education, training, and in-service meetings specific to the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology, or related sciences, or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field, or completion of a Military Laboratory Technician program with experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience required.
- ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
