Key Position Details:

  • $5000 Sign on bonus
  • 1.0 FTE 4, 10- hour shifts per week
  • Shift is Evening/Night
  • Weekend rotation: 2 out of 4 weekends

Job Responsibilities:

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will perform routine medical laboratory testing and be trained in one or more areas of the laboratory, including reception/registration, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and analytical testing departments. You may perform manual and automated waived, moderate, and high complexity testing. You may also serve as a trainer for students and new employees in work areas.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, following all federal regulations, including CAP, OSHA, COLA, CLIA, and HIPAA.
  • Provide customer service and manage patient orders, evaluating and managing orders for completeness and following up as needed.
  • Collect and process specimens following standardized system protocols, reviewing orders, verifying patient identification, and using appropriate collection methods to obtain samples for testing.
  • Maintain education, regulatory, and safety measures, participating in the training of employees and students.
  • Participate in departmental or system-wide meetings, projects, or committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in a related laboratory field, including clinical rotations or equivalent routes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Laboratory or Medical Laboratory experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • ASCP or AMT laboratory certification preferred. If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 180 days of hire.

Physical Demands:

  • Light Work: Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently.
