On-site Systems Administrator in Manufacturing

Technical Environment: Proficient in VMware and Windows Server.

A leading North American company in the manufacturing sector is seeking a knowledgeable Systems Administrator to oversee IT operations at their facilities. This role necessitates a physical presence at the manufacturing site, ensuring the IT infrastructure supports operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage both physical and virtual servers within the manufacturing environment, focusing on Windows servers operating on VMWare.
  • Oversee Active Directory domains and ensure effective backup and recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security team to safeguard the manufacturing environment against potential threats.
  • Administer Thin Manager and Thin Client Systems, along with physical operator stations and standalone PCs.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to implement necessary changes while adhering to established change management protocols.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Partner with the IT Infrastructure team to define network specifications and assist the Service Desk in addressing network and systems-related challenges.
  • Provide mentorship and training to IT colleagues in systems administration and troubleshooting, ensuring knowledge transfer on infrastructure technologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Operational Technology environment.

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of IT experience in an industrial manufacturing setting is essential.
  • Ability to perform at a Service Desk level 2-3.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to a zero-incident safety culture and continuous improvement practices.
  • Preferred experience with Cisco Nexus switches, Siemens Industrial network equipment, VSAN, VMWare 7, Veeam, and Fortigate firewalls.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, if necessary.
