Position Overview:

The Outside Plant Construction Inspector is tasked with overseeing the seamless integration of engineering, permitting, material procurement, and construction activities for outside plant projects. This role involves vigilant monitoring of all project facets to ensure adherence to budget, quality standards, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the complete service delivery process for small to medium business fiber installations, ensuring efficient activation of customer services.
  • Engage with local, county, and state permitting authorities to facilitate project approvals.
  • Collaborate with public utilities and other stakeholders to drive project success.
  • Negotiate easements and licenses with private landowners and entities such as railroad companies.
  • Coordinate with telecommunications providers and property owners to obtain necessary building access for installations.
  • Advise on contractor selection and management.
  • Prepare and finalize permit applications for municipal, state, and county approvals.
  • Supervise contractor performance, ensuring quality and safety compliance throughout project execution.
  • Ensure that the Single Source Provider meets established service level agreements.
  • Analyze project challenges and propose logical solutions to management.
  • Interpret and review construction documents, including blueprints and fiber splicing diagrams.
  • Assess preliminary construction plans for potential conflicts and participate in utility coordination and progress meetings as required.
  • Conduct thorough quality and safety assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to quickly adapt to evolving business requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and effective time management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in technical contexts.
  • Proficient in problem analysis and prioritization, with sound decision-making capabilities.
  • Capability to recommend process enhancements.
  • Assertiveness in escalating issues to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working collaboratively with clients, demonstrating professionalism and empathy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with CAD/E, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
  • Prior experience in Outside Plant Construction Management.
  • Experience interacting with municipal, county, or state agencies.
  • Background in contractor management.
