Overview

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC , a subsidiary of American Foods Group, is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of General Production at our facility in Long Prairie, Minnesota.

This position involves working 8-11+ hours per day, 5-6 days a week, exclusively on the day shift.

As a General Production - Harvest , your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing a range of specialized tasks in a warm, hot, humid, or wet environment.
  • Skillfully utilizing tools such as knives, hooks, and other specialized equipment.
  • Engaging in physical activities that require upper body strength and repetitive motions.
  • Remaining on hard surfaces throughout the entire shift; the use of stairs and personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory in all areas of the facility.
  • Adhering to all food safety policies and regulations.
  • Following safety and housekeeping protocols to ensure a secure environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
  • Promoting a robust safety culture by adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifying and reporting workplace hazards and seeking assistance in rectifying unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Collaborating effectively with a diverse workforce.

As a General Production - Fabrication , your duties will include:

  • Carrying out a variety of specialized tasks in a cold, wet, or damp environment.
  • Proficiently using hooks, knives, saws, band saws, or other equipment to perform specialized tasks, including removing bones, trimming, skinning, separating, sorting, or cutting standard or premium cuts of meat to specifications for further processing or packaging.
  • Performing physical tasks that require upper body strength and repetitive movements.
  • Standing on hard surfaces for the duration of the shift; the use of stairs and personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in all areas of the facility.
  • Complying with all food safety policies and regulations.
  • Adhering to safety and housekeeping processes to ensure a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
  • Fostering a strong safety culture by following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifying and communicating workplace hazards and correcting or seeking assistance in addressing unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Working collaboratively with a diverse workforce.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in various temperature conditions including warm, hot, humid, cold, wet, or on slippery surfaces at different heights around moving equipment and parts while using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be capable of performing job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to work extended hours from Monday to Saturday, including daily overtime as needed. Start times and hours may vary based on production requirements.
  • Must successfully complete training in Safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Food Defense.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in harvest or fabrication within a USDA inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
  • Prior production experience.
  • Relevant work history within the last 12 months.
