Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC , a subsidiary of American Foods Group, is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of General Production at our facility in Long Prairie, Minnesota.

This position involves working 8-11+ hours per day, 5-6 days a week, with a focus on day shifts only.

As a General Production - Harvest team member, your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing a range of specialized tasks in a warm, hot, humid, or wet environment.
  • Skillfully using tools such as knives, hooks, and other specialized equipment.
  • Engaging in physical activities that require upper body strength and repetitive motions.
  • Remaining on hard surfaces throughout the entire shift; utilizing stairs and adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in all areas of the facility.
  • Following all food safety policies and regulations diligently.
  • Complying with safety and housekeeping protocols to ensure a secure environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
  • Fostering a strong safety culture by adhering to safety policies and procedures, identifying workplace hazards, and communicating unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Collaborating effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Note: This description is not exhaustive; employees may perform other related duties as needed to support the organization.

As a General Production - Fabrication team member, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing a variety of specialized tasks in a cold, wet, or damp environment.
  • Utilizing hooks, knives, saws, band saws, or other equipment to carry out specialized tasks, including removing bones, trimming, skinning, separating, sorting, or cutting meat to specifications for further processing or packaging.
  • Engaging in physical activities that require upper body strength and repetitive motions.
  • Remaining on hard surfaces throughout the entire shift; utilizing stairs and adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in all areas of the facility.
  • Following all food safety policies and regulations diligently.
  • Complying with safety and housekeeping protocols to ensure a secure environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
  • Fostering a strong safety culture by adhering to safety policies and procedures, identifying workplace hazards, and communicating unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Collaborating effectively with a diverse workforce.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be capable of working in various temperatures, including warm, hot, humid, cold, and wet conditions, as well as on slippery surfaces and at varied heights around moving equipment.
  • Must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to work extended hours from Monday to Saturday, including daily overtime as required. Start times and hours may vary based on production needs.
  • Must successfully complete training in Safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Food Defense.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in harvest or fabrication within a USDA inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
  • Prior production experience.
  • Work history within the last 12 months.
