Position: Part Time Educational Support Specialist

Position Objective:
  • Facilitate a nurturing, secure, and monitored educational environment for children in the Early Childhood setting (classroom, outdoor play areas, and excursions).
  • Foster the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of enrolled children.
  • Encourage parental engagement in all facets of the program. Collaborate with Primary Educators, Content Specialists, and Community resources to address the needs and concerns of enrolled children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create a welcoming and inviting classroom atmosphere for all children, parents, and visitors, including maintaining an informative parent board.
  • Assist Primary Educators in preparing the classroom environment and resources to support developmentally appropriate educational plans and experiences.
  • Engage with and supervise children during activities, promoting exploration, problem-solving, cooperation, social interaction, and decision-making.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the classroom environment, adhering to all program, state, and federal regulations.
  • Complete and submit all necessary daily, weekly, and monthly documentation.
  • Under the direction of the Primary Educator, Site Supervisor, and Program Specialists, ensure the implementation of identified health, social service, and disability requirements for all children and families in the classroom.
  • Communicate effectively and warmly with parents, addressing concerns respectfully and promptly.
  • Identify and resolve opportunities and challenges within the classroom and center in collaboration with relevant program staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding information related to families, colleagues, and oneself.
  • Report any suspected Child Abuse and Neglect in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Participate in all required professional development, including sessions when the childcare center is closed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience working with children in group settings, with a preference for experience with mixed age groups.
  • Willingness to pursue a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of culturally diverse populations and their unique needs.
  • Willingness to learn about child development and apply that knowledge in daily activities, adapting to the individual needs of children.
  • Basic technological proficiency, including familiarity with tablets, keyboarding, computer literacy, and various applications such as word processing, email, and internet browsing.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification and Food Handler's Card.
  • Capacity to respond appropriately to emergencies or crises.
  • Ability to interact with children at their eye level (sitting, kneeling, stooping, bending) for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Certifications:
  • Valid Driver's License and Insurance.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification within six months of employment.
Employment Conditions:

  • Successful completion of applicable drug tests, TB tests, and physical examinations is required.
  • Background investigations for suitability of character will be conducted in accordance with relevant laws.
