Parameters: Full-time; 12 months/year

Pay Range: $90,000 - $110,000

Residency Requirement: Must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Position Overview: The Chief Financial Strategist will possess comprehensive expertise in financial oversight, encompassing everything from fundamental accounting to extensive investment and banking operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, as they will oversee all relevant departments within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide the organization’s financial planning and strategy.
  • Conduct risk assessment by evaluating the organization’s liabilities and investment opportunities.
  • Formulate investment strategies by analyzing cash flow and liquidity risks.
  • Oversee and assess the organization’s fundraising initiatives and capital structure.
  • Ensure adequate cash flow for operational needs.
  • Supervise all finance-related personnel.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and financial partners.
  • Prepare accurate current and forecasting financial reports.
  • Establish and maintain the organization’s financial IT systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies.

Additionally, employees must understand the comprehensive role of the institution and collaborate harmoniously with students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance-related roles.
  • CPA certification or progress towards it.
  • Proficient in Excel and QuickBooks.
  • Demonstrated experience as a CFO or in a similar financial leadership role.
  • Thorough understanding of corporate financial regulations and risk management practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Competent in MS Office and financial management software.
  • Ability to strategize and solve complex problems.
  • Exemplary leadership and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment: The role is primarily office-based under general supervision, with appropriate climate control. Occasional travel and flexibility for early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required.

Physical Requirements: This position involves sedentary work, requiring the ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally and engage in activities such as sitting, walking, and standing as needed.
