Museum Associates is seeking a highly skilled Project Conservator, Objects to join our team. As a key member of our conservation department, you will be responsible for the preservation and management of our collection of three-dimensional art and historical artifacts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough condition assessments and perform preventive conservation and treatment of objects to ensure their physical integrity and historical value.
  • Oversee and manage specific conservation projects from inception to completion, including creating project timelines, budgets, and documentation standards.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of conservation treatments, condition reports, and research findings, adhering to professional standards and museum protocols.
  • Collaborate with curators, registrars, and other museum staff to support exhibition preparation, loan agreements, and collection care initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date on advancements in conservation science and methodologies, and contribute to educational programs and workshops related to conservation practices.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Conservation, Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field, with a focus on objects conservation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in object conservation, including hands-on treatment and project management, preferably in a museum or similar cultural institution.
  • Proficiency in conservation techniques for various materials, strong analytical skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-specialists.

Benefits:

  • The expected hourly rate for this position is $65.00, subject to change, and the position is eligible for Museum Associates' comprehensive benefits package, including a pension plan.
