Role Summary

The Employment Advisor plays a crucial role in the Emergency Housing Voucher program, which aims to eliminate and prevent homelessness. This position is dedicated to providing tailored employment assistance to clients, including resume development, job search strategies, and interview preparation. The Employment Advisor is responsible for fostering relationships with local employers to enhance support for clients in their job search efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement and Case Management (70%)
  • Identify job opportunities through various channels and share with clients
  • Stay informed about job fairs and employment resources
  • Guide clients in evaluating their job skills and provide training in job search techniques
  • Conduct workshops on job search strategies and career development
  • Organize employment events and facilitate interviews with employers
  • Network to create job opportunities for clients
  • Collaborate with case managers to set and achieve employment goals
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to assess their progress
  • Support employers in effectively managing employees from our programs
  • Provide referrals to additional community resources as needed

Documentation and Reporting (20%)
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities and client interactions
  • Communicate effectively with team members and external partners
  • Participate in case reviews and supervision sessions

General Duties (10%)
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience

Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to build rapport and trust with clients
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
