**Key Responsibilities:**

When you join our team, you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service expertise to assist with every phase of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your colleagues to transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for volunteer donors, and adhering to all safety protocols while collecting life-saving blood donations destined for hospitals.

The Red Cross provides paid phlebotomy training, offering opportunities to enhance your healthcare skills and advance your career within the nation's premier humanitarian organization.

**Key Duties Include:**

+ Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the significance of their contributions.

+ Work collaboratively with your team to foster a friendly and inviting environment, ensuring our volunteer donors feel comfortable returning.

+ Maintain attention to detail consistently to ensure that the blood collected meets goals, regulatory standards, and is safe for transfusion.

+ Potentially operate Red Cross vehicles and collaborate with the team to set up and dismantle equipment at donation sites. A minimum height of 60 inches may be required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

**Schedule:**

To effectively meet the needs of our donors and community, staff work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be necessary in certain locations.

**Compensation:** Starting rate of $21.50/hr.

+ Sign-On Bonus: $1,500

**Qualifications:**

+ High school diploma or equivalent is required.

+ Customer service experience and strong verbal communication skills are essential.

+ A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.

+ DOT certification may be necessary in some locations. If required, candidates must pass the applicable DOT physical and related requirements and be able to obtain a medical certification valid for at least one year.

+ Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is necessary. A minimum height of 60 inches may be required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

+ The American Red Cross conducts numerous mobile blood drives at various locations. All staff work as a team to set up and dismantle the equipment necessary for conducting a mobile blood drive.

+ Basic computer skills are required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Previous healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.) is advantageous.

+ Leadership experience is a plus.
