Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Volunteer Engagement & College Partnerships Specialist to join our team at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. This role will be responsible for supporting volunteer management, engagement, and partnership development with local colleges and universities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide programmatic and administrative support for the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps program, serving as a key liaison between the Food Bank and partner campuses.
  • Collaborate with colleges, universities, and other educational institutions to promote internship opportunities and build relationships with academic institutions and career services offices.
  • Recruit, schedule, and coordinate individual and group volunteers to support the Food Bank's operations and events.
  • Lead, train, or orient, and supervise volunteers across various events, ensuring a positive and fulfilling experience to encourage continued participation.
  • Represent the Food Bank at community events to build and sustain partnerships that support ongoing volunteer engagement and involvement.
  • Manage volunteer records, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting activities such as hours completed and project participation.
Requirements
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. 2-4 years of experience working in community engagement, community service programs, or volunteer management preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience. Supervisory experience desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, including networking and public speaking.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
  • Excellent project management skills including planning, organizing and effective time management.
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to properly handle confidential information.
  • Proficient skills in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google platform (Google Docs, etc.).
  • Ability to work productively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers.
  • Regularly guide volunteers to different locations around the Food Bank throughout the day.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Valid CA Driver's License and access to a reliable and insured vehicle. Occasional travel within Los Angeles County.
