Job Summary

The Downtown Women's Center is seeking a skilled Volunteer Program Manager to lead our volunteer program and promote a culture of volunteerism throughout the agency. This role will work closely with program staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities, recruit, train, and schedule volunteers, and steward relationships with our volunteer community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and manage a diverse group of volunteers to support DWC's program operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain volunteers, including training programs, recognition events, and volunteer appreciation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer opportunities and ensure that volunteers are utilized effectively to support program goals.
  • Manage volunteer communication and coordination, including scheduling, training, and recognition.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with DWC's volunteer community, including volunteer leaders and ambassadors.
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Two years of experience managing volunteers and/or staff, preferably in a non-profit or social services setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Commitment to DWC's mission to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy.
